This 20"x24" oil painting is a different view on what makes a monster. In the midst of popular series such as "Twilight", "Vampire Diaries", and "Supernatural", we are faced with the many different takes on what goes bump in the night. In this painting, a small girl in a large night-shirt stands at her bedroom window. The warm glow of her lamp contrasts against the glowing night sky. Just outside the slightly open window lurks a strange yet almost lovely creature. He's shaped like a man, but with demonic eyes and opalescent skin that is textured with scars. Grasping the gnarled arms of the bare tree, he reaches out, almost gently, towards the little girl in her haven. Unafraid, the small girl clutches her blanket and presses her palm against the glass. The closeness is frightening, the subject is dark, and yet somehow the connection is tender.
